We can advise that you can obtain information regarding road closures,
including the dates and times of works and contact details for utility companies
through the www.roadworks.org website. All updated information relating
to scheduled works on behalf of Essex County Council and utility companies
is detailed on this website although please also be aware emergency
utility works will not be shown here.
Uttlesford Community Travel
Do you have problems accessing public transport? Or do you have mobility
problems? Community Travel can help you with our door-to-door services.
Registration costs £10 per year and includes both Book-a-Ride and Hospital Car
services. All drivers are DBS checked and all the vehicles are thoroughly
serviced
Book-a-Ride
Do you want to go shopping? To the garden centre? Go to the hairdressers?
Each journey costs £3 for 2 miles and then 80 pence per mile up to 15 miles
Ring for a price over 15 miles - You pay the driver on the day
The Bus has wheelchair access, and if you have an escort they pay just £2

Hospital Cars
Do you have an appointment at the local hospital or a hospital further away?
Community Travel can arrange a car to collect you and bring you home
£10 per year to register and each journey is charged at 45 pence per mile.
The driver will call you the day before to confirm

School Buses
From September 2016 a number of bus services serving the Joyce Frankland and Saffron Walden County Higher schools that had been run under contract to Essex County Council were taken over commercially by Stephensons of Essex. These include the following services: Bus Services 413, 414, 417, 418, 419, 438, 441, 446, 451 and 453
As part of this process, the operator, Stephensons of Essex, increased the bus fares to a commercial rate, which was significantly higher than the rate charged by the County Council.
To help families manage the increase in fares, the County Council agreed a transitional arrangement whereby the County Council funded half of the cost of the increase in fares for the first year. This arrangement ceases for journeys being undertaken from September 2017 onwards and the full commercial fare will apply. Click here for the new bus fare rates
